Beginning in 2024, eight-person national Olympic teams will only be allowed to field a maximum of two males. Ten teams will be qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Paris. In recent years, many of the nations that have shown themselves to be serious competitors for those ten positions have been seeking to expand their male talent pools. It will be fascinating to see which nations take advantage of this regulation change in the year running up to Olympic qualification competitions. Teams may still swim eight women if they so desire. The duet competition, which will only be open to female swimmers, will not be open to men.

World Championships 2015

Male competitors were given the chance to compete in the mixed duet division at the World Championships in 2015. Since then, World Aquatics, formerly known as FINA, has increased participation opportunities by adding the male solo category and letting men to compete in the highlight, now known as acrobatic, category during World Series and Super Final competitions.

Bill May, a native of the USA, has struggled for this objective throughout his lengthy and illustrious career as an artistic swimmer. Before many people were open to the concept of men participating in artistic swimming, formerly known as synchronized swimming, May entered the sport. May persevered to win the first-ever gold medal as a male in the sport at the 2015 World Championships, the inaugural year mixed duet was included in the World Championship program. This announcement is particularly special for him, as he has dedicated his time and talents to developing the sport across the world, encouraging male swimmers to get involved and train for this moment.

“These are fantastic developments for our really unique sport of artistic swimming. Several individuals support, promote, and incite change within our sport. Being a part of the journey as our sport develops and becomes more inclusive is an honour. Unquestionably beneficial, this action will support the development of artistic swimming both domestically and internationally, he said.

Senior Athletics Kenny Gaudet Artistic Swimming

In addition to swimming with his female teammates in the highlight category at the World Series competition, senior national team athlete Kenny Gaudet, who represented the USA as the male in mixed duet last season, mirrored May’s pleasure.

“All boys will have the opportunity to demonstrate that we are deserving of participating at the highest level in this sport. The conclusion of all the hard effort that many male swimmers before me have put in is the decision to allow men to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Their advocacy and labour weren’t in vain. I feel sad when I consider all the men who came before me and were rejected, and I’m happy for all the men who will now hear “yes,” “said Gaudet.

Many footballing greats have taken part in the Olympic Games, including Ferenc Puskás in 1952, Lev Yachine in 1956, Samuel Eto’o in 2000, and Lionel Messi in 2008, and most recently Neymar in 2016.

France’s Olympic Football Team

A French Football Federation (FFF) member of staff has confirmed the organization is looking to confirm the nation’s best men’s football players for the tournament at the Paris Olympic 2024 Games, after failing to gain the release of its stars for the Tokyo 2020 Games.

At Tokyo 2020, France missed several of their best under-23 players – including young striker Kylian Mbappé and relied on three overage players who were not regulars in the senior national team. It led to Sylvain Ripoll’s squad being eliminated in the group stage with just one win from three. A source from the FFF, according to L’Equipe, says the organization will make a plea to the professional clubs.

The Olympics, in our own country – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, they said.

At the least, club hierarchies should listen to reason.

Clubs are not obliged to release their players for the Games as the tournament falls outside the international window. FIFA World Cup winner Kylian Mbappé could be chosen for the Paris 2024 Olympics squad if clubs allow the release of players For Paris 2024, Mbappé could be selected as one of those over-age players if an agreement is sealedVeteran Karim Benzema is also said to be interested in playing at the tournament.

Young players

Young players who would expect to be part of the Olympic team include FIFA World Cup squad members William Saliba and Eduardo Camavinga, as well as recent call-ups, defenders Benoît Badiashile and Adrien Truffert. Jules Koundé, Raphaël Varane, Adrien Rabiot, and Paul Pogba could be among the over-age players in contention for the Olympic squad too.

The governing body for Olympic Football in France

The France national football team Équipe de France de football represents France in men’s international football matches. It is governed by the French Football Federation FFF, the governing body for Olympic Football in France. It is a member of UEFA in Europe and FIFA in global competitions. The team’s colors and imagery reference two national symbols: the French red-white-blue tricolor and the Gallic rooster. The team is colloquially known as Les Bleu’s ‘’The Blues’’.

France in men’s international football matches

They play home matches at the State de France in Saint-Denis and train at INF Clairefontaine in Clairefontaine-en-Yvelines. Founded in 1904, the team has won two FIFA World Cups, two UEFA European Championships, two FIFA Confederations Cups, one Olympic Games, one CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions, and one UEFA Nations League title. France was one of the four European teams that participated in the first World Cup in 1930.

Twenty-eight years later, the team, led by Raymond Kopa and Just Fontaine, finished in third place at the 1958 World Cup. France experienced much of its success in three different eras: in the 1980s, from the 1990s to the early 2000s, and during the late 2010s. In 1984, under the leadership of the three-time Ballon d’Or winner Michel Platini, France won Euro 1984 (its first official title), a CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup (1985), and reached two World Cup semi-finals in 1982 and 1986.

captain Les Bleus

Didier Deschamps captained Les Bleus as they won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 alongside Zinedine Zidane on the field. In 2001 and 2003, they also captured the Confederations Cup. Three years later, France competed in the 2006 World Cup, where they were defeated by Italy on penalties, 5-3. Ten years later, they competed in the Euro 2016 final, when they were defeated by Portugal 1-0 after extra time. France won the 2018 World Cup, its second triumph in that event, two years later. They were the first European national side to have won each senior FIFA and UEFA championship after winning the 2021 Nations League. Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, England, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain are football rivals of France.

Olympic football United States Team

In international men’s soccer tournaments, the United States is represented by the USMNT, the US men’s national soccer team. The group is affiliated with FIFA and CONCACAF and is managed by the United States Soccer Federation. The American squad has participated in eleven FIFA World Cups, including the inaugural tournament in 1930, where they advanced to the semifinals and finished third, the best finish ever for a team from outside of UEFA and CONMEBOL. They came back in 1934 and 1950, winning the latter match 1-0 over England, but they didn’t qualify again until 1990. As host in 1994, the U.S. received an automatic berth and lost to Brazil in the round of sixteen.

They qualified for the next five World Cups seven consecutive appearances from 1990–2014, a feat shared with only seven other nations, becoming one of the tournament’s regular competitors and often advancing to the knockout stage. The U.S. reached the quarter-finals in 2002 and controversially lost to Germany. In the 2009 Confederations Cup, the Americans eliminated top-ranked Spain in the semi-finals before losing to Brazil in the final, the team’s only appearance in the final of a major intercontinental tournament. United States

The United States also participates in continental tournaments such as the CONCACAF Gold Cup and Copa América. The United States won seven Gold Cups, the inaugural CONCACAF Nations League, and placed fourth in both the 1995 and 2016 Copa Americas. Anthony Hudson has served as the team’s interim head coach since January 2023. Brian McBride was the team’s most recently general manager until he resigned in January 2023.

Brazil’s Olympic football Team

Brazil’s national football squad, commonly known as Brazil Under-23 or Brazil U23, competes in international football tournaments while competing in the Olympic and Pan American Games. Except for three players who are overage, the selection is only open to athletes under the age of 23. The Brazilian Football Confederation CBF oversees the group. Brazil U23 has won the Olympic football competition twice, in 2016 and 2020, making it one of the most successful teams in the competition. Canada is the women’s defending champion, while Brazil is the two-time defending champion in the men’s division.

The Olympic football tournament was the last international competition in football organized by FIFA which Brazil had never won until they won at home in 2016. They had previously won three silver medals in 1984, 1988, and 2012 and two bronze medals in 1996, and 2008. The team was often coached by the in-charge senior team coach in the past, such as Mario Sangallo in 1996, Vanderlei Luxemburgo in 2000, Dungan in 2008, and Mano Menezes in 2012.

Colombia’s Olympic football Team

The national football team of Colombia the Colombian Football Federation, the country’s football regulating body, oversees Selection de football de Colombia, which represents Colombia in men’s international football. They are a CONMEBOL member and presently hold the 17th spot in the FIFA World Rankings. Los Cafeteros is the team’s nickname since their nation produces a lot of coffee. Notably, for many Colombians around the world, the national team has served as a representation of nationality, pride, and devotion. Colombia is recognized for having ardent supporters, and the team’s celebration dances after goals have been significant.

Colombian Participated

The Colombian team has participated in six World Cups in 1962, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2014, and 2018. In the 2014 edition held in Brazil, the team achieved its best World Cup performance, reaching the quarter-finals and coming fifth in the final standings. Its greatest international achievement is winning the Copa American in 2001 as hosts, also setting a new record with no goals conceded and every match won; it has also finished runner-up in 1975 and finished third five times: in 1987, 1993, 1995, 2016, and 2021. Furthermore, the team managed to make outstanding appearances at the continental level, obtaining from the Central American and Caribbean Games the gold and bronze medals in 1946 and 1938 respectively, and in the Bolivarian Games the team obtained the gold medal in 1951 and the silver medal in 1961, 1973 and 1981.

1990s Decades

The 1990s were Colombia’s most prosperous decade. A unique “mutual respect” rivalry between the two countries was started in a 1993 encounter that ended in a 5-0 victory over Argentina. Rene Hiuita, a goalkeeper, rose to renown in 1995 at Wembley Stadium with his unorthodox scorpion kick clearance against England. Carlos Valderrama, who excelled in League 1, Freddy Rincon, who played in Serie A, La Liga, and the Brazilian Championship, and Faustino Asprilla were stars from Colombia’s side who shone in major European divisions.

Colombia qualified for the World Cups in 1990, 1994, and 1998 during this time period, however, they only advanced past the second round in 1990. Following the murder of Andrés Escobar after the 1994 World Cup, Colombia’s performances faded in the latter half of the 1990s and early half of the 2000s, and although Colombia was the champion of the 2001 Copa America, which they hosted, the nation missed three World Cups between 2002 and 2010. Colombia was the first team to win FIFA’s best mover in 1993 when the achievement was first introduced and the second team after Croatia to win it twice in 2012.

José Peterman

With the arrival of Argentine manager José Peterman in January 2012, Colombia entered a new era. Colombia improved over the 2011 Copa America during the 2014 World Cup qualifying matches, moving up from 40th to the top ten for the first time since 2002 and into the top five continuously for the first time since 2004. Colombia returned to the World Cup in 2014 after a 16-year absence, and they were able to reach the quarterfinals, which is the farthest they had ever advanced in a World Cup. James Rodrguez, a great midfielder for Colombia, won the Golden Boot for the tournament’s most goals with six and the Best Goal of the Tournament award for his long-range goal against Uruguay.

The football tournaments will take place between the 24th of July and the 10th of August.

Football Tournament (women’s & men’s)

For the football tournaments of Paris 2024, the fixtures take place in seven of the most beautiful and iconic venues in the country.

Park des Princes

A mythical stadium, easily recognizable in the Porte de Saint-Cloud landscape with its iconic concrete columns that crown its roof, Park des Princes is one of France’s leading sports venues, ideal to welcome the Paris 2024 Games.

Nantes Stadium

State de la Beauvoir is a mythical stadium. It is here that thousands of fans of FC Nantes have been able to watch its achievements since it was built in 1984. 40 years later, Beauvoir is adding a new competition to its list of accomplishments, with the Olympics this time.

Bordeaux Stadium

Created for the Euro 2016 Football Championship, Bordeaux Stadium will welcome the world in 2024. With its spectacular design and iconic columns, mirroring the Lands forest, it is the main sports venue in the Gironde Region’s capital city.

 Marseille Stadium

The heart of Marseille beats for football, so it was a logical step for the Olympic tournament to be staged there in 2024. State Velodrome is France’s second-largest stadium. This mythical venue was recently fully renovated and modernized and is home to Olympic de Marseille.

Nice Stadium

In 2024, fans will be able to head to the Mediterranean to cheer on the Olympic football matches in the ultramodern and modular Nice Stadium.

Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium

During the Olympic tournament, fans will be able to cheer on footballers from around the world in one of France’s most iconic stadiums. Since it was built in 1931, the “Chadron” has been renovated several times, modernizing its access and stands, making it a very modern stadium today.

Lyon Stadium

Lyon Stadium is an ultramodern, multipurpose facility, owned by its resident football club, Olympic Lyonnais. It is France’s third-largest stadium, which will represent an additional asset for welcoming spectators to the Olympic Games in 2024.

Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice, Paris, and Saint-Etienne have been approved as the venues for football competitions at the Paris Olympic 2024 Games. Seven French cities presented to the Organizing Committee last month, seeking the final six berths available.

Paris already had Automatic Hosting Right

Paris 2024 confirmed the remaining venues at an Executive Board meeting today. Matches are due to be held at the 48, 583 capacity Park des Princes, which is home to League 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Marseille’s Orange Velodrome is the largest of the venues chosen, boasting a capacity of 67,394. Matmut Atlantique and state Geoffroy-Guichard, the home grounds of Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne respectively, have capacities of just over 40,000. Nice’s Allianz Rivera and the state de la Beauvoir in Nantes complete the list of selected venues. Both stadiums can welcome over 35,000 spectators. Marseille’s Orange Velodrome was among the venues selected to host matches The Stadium de Toulouse, home to League 2 outfit Toulouse, missed out on selection as a football venue at the Olympic Games.
