The 15 athletes there, 11 have competed on gold-medal winning Olympic or World Cup teams. Jackie Young, a hopeful 5-on-5 player for USA Basketball and a member of the 2020 USA 3×3 Women’s Olympic Team, is one of them.
Young exclaimed, “I’m thrilled to be here. I’ve been working out a lot during the offseason, so it’s been enjoyable to be able to play 5-on-5 once more. Playing with players you don’t typically get the chance to be usually the only way to improve.
WNBA campaign 2022
After a standout 2022 WNBA campaign in which she averaged 15.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.4 steals as way to winning the Most Improved Player award and leading the Las Vegas Aces to their first championship, Young is coming off a strong season.
Throughout training camp, I’ve been focusing on a lot of different things, Young said. “I’ve been working on getting my 3-point shots off a little bit quicker, finishing near the hoop, and getting into my midrange shot.”
Olympic Paris: Teammate Kelsey Plum, Jackie, Young
Teammate Kelsey Plum of the 3×3 and Aces has taken notice of Young’s persistent attitude. Plum, who at the Tokyo Olympic averaged 6.2 points and 1.4 rebounds, talked about playing with Young once more.
Jackie is a monster, Plum declared. She doesn’t, in my opinion, receive the affection she merits. This individual was a starting [WNBA] All-Star the previous season. Every year, she works herself to death. She returns and improves. Every night, she guards the best player on the opposition team while playing the one-through-three position. She works every day, whether it’s lifting or shooting after practise, when I see her in Vegas. Such players are what make winning teams.
Young and Plum made history by winning the gold in the 3×3 event at the Tokyo Olympic, along with their colleagues Stefanie Dolson and Allisha Gray. The team, led by head coach Kara Lawson, is aware of how effort creates opportunity.
Lawson stated in 2021, “What I’m most proud of is they all earned it with their training the year prior. Jackie Young, who came in late and did a fantastic job working our team, performed an unbelievable job on her own. Whether it was Stef Dolson becoming in the finest shape of her life, Kelsey recovering from an Achilles injury, or Allisha Gray developing into one of the top players in the world. We won since all of these events occurred simultaneously and simultaneously, making us the winners.
Olympic Paris: Head coach of the USA Women’s National Team
Cheryl Reeve, head coach of the USA Women’s National Team for the years 2021–24, will lead the Americans in Paris. Even if the stakes are high as we approach the Olympic. Young won’t have to tackle the difficulties of 5-on-5 alone because there are many ex-coaches in the player pool with her.
Marina Marbrey, Arike Ogunbowale, and Briana Turner, teammates at the University of Notre Dame, were in Minneapolis. Together with Young, that group contributed to the Fighting Irish’s 2017–18 NCAA Championship victory.
Young said, “I’m so thrilled to be here with Marina, Arike, and Briana. There are many of us here. So it has been so much joy to hang out with them and catch up. We are making the most of this time in camp since none of us had played on the same squad since college.
Being on the same team as Kelsey is always enjoyable, especially when USA Olympic Basketball is involved. We were successful in winning the 3-on-3 game, and now we want to play 5-on-5 and enjoy ourselves.

Advancing the USA to compete for the gold. The USA made six turnovers, outrebounded their opponents 18-15, and Gray, Plum, and Dolson each blocked a shot.

Respectively, in 1-point shooting percentage at 70.0% and 69.0%.
