Over the summer, the UCI Cycling World Championships inspired more than 5,000 children and young individuals to take up cycling through the Summer Games 2024 of Cycling club events. With the aid of a £25,000 investment from Sport England, 92 clubs orchestrated a series of pedal-powered experiences, including traffic-free group rides and entry-level races.

From June to September, a total of 246 events unfolded across the nation, featuring diverse cycling activities like grass track and cycle speedway taster sessions, guided road rides, and mountain bike races.

The campaign’s success in engaging a substantial number of girls reflects British Cycling’s ongoing efforts to bridge the historical gender gap in the sport across all age groups, surpassing their 2020 target of involving one million women in cycling. Anthony Gill, British Cycling’s Head of Sport, expressed gratitude to the club volunteers and coaches for their instrumental role in facilitating each of the 246 events.

He stated next year’s Summer Games 2024 of Cycling enabled thousands of children and young people to participate in clubs and events across the country, with many discovering the joy of cycling for the first time. The ARA Australian Cycling Team’s BMX freestyle season concluded on a high note, with exceptional performances in the final round of the UCI World Cup in Bazhong, China. Logan Martin solidified his overall victory in the UCI World Cup by triumphing in the round, while Natayla Diehm achieved her best-ever international result, showcasing her impressive comeback from injury. In the Elite Men’s category, Logan Martin had already secured the overall World Cup victory before the final round. Undeterred, the Gold Coast rider aimed to conclude the season with a strong performance, which he accomplished with a spectacular display in the final round.
