She was still participating in amateur rugby for her local side, Biggar. She had only earned four international appearances by that stage. Nearly three years on, she has firmly claimed the Scotland number 13 shirt. She now possesses 29 caps and has dotted down for seven tries while playing for her nation.

If she hadn’t pursued a life in rugby, it might have changed her family history. Perhaps even altered the population of Biggar more than expected.Both her parents played rugby in their youth, as revealed by the 21-year-old Scottish and Bristol Bears centre. She also has three older siblings who’ve all been part of the sport. She watched them compete for the Biggar Rugby Club.

That’s how she ended up in the game. Rugby at Biggar has certainly been a family tradition. Her sister is still involved with the club. One of her brothers has retired, while another competes for Ayr. They’ve passed the rugby gene down. Orr, who first represented Scotland at 17 during the 2021 Rugby World Cup, now gets another shot at leaving a greater impact in 2025.

Ross Miller, who cooperated with the team through the 2021 World Cup. And Steve Shingler has now been called as a junior tutor. Miller most recently headed the Scotland men’s Under-18 squad at the Six Nations. And returned to the women’s setup earlier this month. Former Scarlets fly-half Shingler arrives on loan from the PWR club Trailfinders.

He has served as an assistant coach over the last season. Ex-England winger Banahan definite he is definitely grateful for his time with Scotland. But explained the prospect of a new coaching job nearer to family was impossible to reject. Easson stated this does now provide an exciting chance to reboot and renew our coaching structure.

We brought Steve into training camp during this year’s Six Nations and were genuinely impressed with him then. We have various athletes at Trailfinders, among them some of our top offensive players. Ross has settled back in superbly with us. We’ve enjoyed a fantastic couple of weeks as a unit with him to date.

Shingler arrives temporarily from PWR’s Trailfinders Women. Where he had been an assistant coach this past term. Once a professional player, Shingler offers a broad spectrum of playing and mentoring expertise. He has represented clubs like Scarlets, London Irish, Cardiff, Mont-de-Marsan, and Ealing Trailfinders in a notable career as both a fly-half and centre.

Scotland Women’s head coach Bryan Easson said he appreciated Matt’s efforts for the team. There is no question that the attacking game has developed in the two years he’s been involved. Though, regrettably, he won’t join us for the Rugby World Cup. We honour his choice to accept an offer nearer to home and extend our best regards.

This situation now opens a fresh window to revamp and recharge our coaching strategy. We appreciate Trailfinders Women for collaborating with us to integrate Steve into our circle. Introduced Steve to camp this year. We were quite impressed by his work. Numerous players at Trailfinders, including key attackers, already share a solid link with him.

They grasp his style. That will ease this adjustment phase. Ross has adapted brilliantly again with us. We’ve had an amazing few weeks as a unit. We’ve partnered for a long time. He was wonderful with us at the earlier Rugby World Cup. I view him as an excellent addition. He knows our players well, and they’re comfortable with him too.

He feels this is an outstanding collective.
