HIGHER

Kirk Cousins vs Seattle Seahawks

PROJECTED POINTS: 15.2: This season, Kirk Cousins has played more like Kirk Conundrum, going into four games with fewer than 13 fantasy points; yet, he did record 17.5 vs the Eagles in Week 2 and 34.4 vs the Buccaneers in Week 5. This week at the Seahawks, I’m willing to put my trust in him even though it’s difficult to do.

In the last three weeks, the Seattle defense has produced the QB4, QB10, and QB6, giving up more than 22 fantasy scores to each of Jared Goff, Daniel Jones, and Brock Purdy, after shutting down Bo Nix, Jacoby Brissett, and Skylar Thompson to begin the competition. From what I can tell, Cousins will look more like a member of the latter triad than the former. In week seven, he is a great stream.

Drake Maye vs Jacksonville Jaguars

PROJECTED POINTS: 13.9: Despite throwing two interceptions, Maye produced 19.5 fantasy points in his first NFL start. Against the Texans, who have one of the best passing defenses in the league this year, he passed for 243 yards and three touchdowns. In Week 6, Maye also made use of his mobility, amassing 38 yards via the air.

This season, the Jaguars have given up the most fantasy points, passing touchdowns, and passing yards to quarterbacks; in fact, Jacksonville is giving up four more fantasy points per play to quarterbacks than any other club. Josh Allen, C.J. Stroud, Joe Flacco, and Caleb Williams have all scored at least 23 fantasy points versus the Jaguars over the past four games.

Tank Bigsby vs New England Patriots

PROJECTED POINTS: 6.0: Bigsby’s meager 2.4 points in Week 6 was a major letdown for fantasy managers following his enormous showing in Week 5. Last week, even though Travis Etienne was sidelined for most of the game, Bigsby only saw seven carries during the day as the Bears’ attack, led by Caleb Williams, was overwhelming the Jaguars.

PROJECTED POINTS: 9.4: It looks like Chubb will be back this Sunday, and the timing couldn’t be more ideal. According to NFL Pro, the Bengals rank 31st in defensive rushing efficiency. This season, they have given up a fantasy RB in the top 16 every week.

Cleveland is probably going all in on the run game after dealing away Amari Cooper. And even though the offense will probably be struggling, Chubb ought to get at least 15 touches right away.

Although it is a bit dangerous to start the 28-year-old running back in his first playoff with a serious knee injury, he should be a reliable RB3 at the very least if you don’t have alternatives. He has an RB counterpart in Zack Moss, but I would gladly start him over Moss in this game.

Zay Flowers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

PROJECTED POINTS: 13.9: In back-to-back games over the last two weeks, Flowers has recorded over 110 receiving yards and at least 19 fantasy points. In four of the six games so far this season. The wide receiver has seen nine targets or more. In NFL 2024 Week 7, he will square up against the Buccaneers, an exciting battle.

Cade Otton vs Baltimore Ravens

PROJECTED POINTS: 7.5: George Kittle is the tight end who has played in the most games with more than seven fantasy points than anybody else. Who will come next? With four, Cade Otton. While it doesn’t sound impressive, he has averaged 6.8 targets, 4.5 receptions, and 39.5 yards over the last month. It’s enough to surpass this estimate and establish him as a worthy starter in the appropriate matchups.

Similar to this one versus Baltimore, who boast the 27th-ranked passing defense among NFL Pros and have given up the fifth-highest number of fantasy points per game to the position. Baker Mayfield and company will need to throw a lot to keep up with the Ravens in what should be a high-scoring contest.

Otton should have enough leftovers to threaten double-digit fantasy points and perhaps even challenge for a TE1 finish, even if Tampa Bay receivers will get their share.

LOWER

Breece Hall vs Pittsburgh Steelers

PROJECTED POINTS: 16.7: Hall, who just consumed a 20-burger, is the second-highest predicted running back for NFL 2024 Week 7 and I’m going LOWER. I apologize for skewing your deliciousness. Though to be fair, you’re still starting him, my expectations are much lower against Pittsburgh, the NFL Pro’s top run defense, than they were against the Bills’ weak rush defense from the previous week.

The floor is extremely low here, especially for a stud player, as Hall was terrible against the elite fronts of the Broncos and Vikings. With Davante Adams on board, maybe, the offense will be improved, which would increase Hall’s upside potential. If you’re fortunate enough to have superior starting alternatives, I would steer clear of the third-year back for this week’s game possibly the worst one available.

Jordan Mason vs Kansas City Chiefs

Though six of the 9 teams that finished the regular season with a 2-0 record advanced to the postseason, a few of them were not long-term contenders. 1. Kansas City Chiefs

There’s no denying, however, that defensive coordinator Brian Flores deserves more credit. Upon Minnesota’s six sacks and two turnovers in a 23-17 victory on Sunday, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy told Flores, “Your scheme is crazy.”

Throughout the season, Flores should continue to rattle opposition offenses. But Darnold still needs to show that he can be a reliable triggerman and do more than just let Justin Jefferson be Justin Jefferson. However, if Kevin O’Connell can keep finding him good locations and his pass catchers’ growing injuries avoid taking too much of a toll. Minnesota might be considered for the wild card come late in the season.

7. Los Angeles Chargers

Jim Harbaugh’s team has proven its NFL alternative identity with 395 yards of running as opposed to 270 yards of passing. However, the strategy employed to shut down the Raiders and Panthers most likely won’t work as well against teams like the Steelers and Chiefs. These are scheduled to play in the following two weeks.

An inexperienced receiving corps promises to be a roadblock when early-game circumstances are less favorable. The Bolts’ outstanding defensive efforts are intrinsically linked to the ailing passing attacks they encountered. This formula doesn’t seem sustainable in the long run because neither Fields nor Wilson appear to be able to save the offense the way Herbert can. Pittsburgh’s early success has been largely attributed to a league-best +5 turnover differential. Perhaps the defense can keep producing huge plays. But if the team decides to stick with Fields who committed 41 turnovers in 40 games while logging 135 sacks the offense may be in for some more serious holes down the road.

9. Seattle Seahawks

Give Mike Macdonald credit for starting the season with a spotless record something no other trainer in franchise history has accomplished in his first year. Macdonald is the youngest coach in the NFL at 37. However, facing the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots. 1. Kansas City Chiefs

Name it Chiefs magic. Patrick Mahomes did not have a great day, but he did put his team in position for the walk-off victory. Though it did score a touchdown and make the necessary late stops, the defense also gave up some big plays. That’s the look of championship DNA.

2. Houston Texans 

Though I’m not sure the Texans should be all the way up in the No. 2 place this soon, they were one of the few teams outside of Kansas City to win in Week 2. Although Houston’s offense and C.J. Stroud didn’t perform well against Chicago, this only provided the defense and special teams with more opportunities to show off their skills.

3. Detroit Lions

The Lions must have slept very little on Sunday night. You had Dan Campbell’s error on the poorly executed field goal during the half. The most obvious of them was Detroit’s startling 1-of-7 performance in the red zone. It was probably a 10-point Lions victory, but that’s why you watch the games. Ultimately, I’m not worrying about it.

4. San Francisco 49ers

I don’t feel overly affected by Minnesota’s defeat. That was one strange game Brock Purdy picked in his own red zone, there was a goal line stand, and a blocked punt. I don’t think that will occur very frequently. The fact that the 49ers are no longer benefiting from excellent health, however, worries me. Deebo Samuel will now lose some time due to Christian McCaffrey’s placement on injured reserve. In the end, none of it was important. Throughout their final four possessions, the Lions were within striking distance and managed just zero points.

5. Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills don’t give a damn. They don’t give a damn about the other team’s skill level or the spread. Buffalo Bills have little interest in who is listed as injured or which starters are substituted throughout the match. They will just go out and complete the task.

6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 

Really, Todd Bowles is a marvel. At the conclusion of the Bucs’ victory in Detroit on Sunday, the team had lost an All-Pro safety, both starting defensive tackles, and their nickel back due to illness. 7. Philadelphia Eagles

The powers of effective coaching are astounding. This Saints offense is largely composed of the same players who found it difficult to score more than 20 points per game in 2023. They resemble fire-breathing monsters with Klint Kubiak leading the plays. We have to concede that New Orleans might be legitimate after destroying Dallas.

10. Cincinnati Bengals

Despite a devastating setback in Kansas City, strangely enough, I have more positive feelings about the Bengals. Seeing Joe Burrow appear like himself must be reassuring, and Patrick Mahomes had a difficult time playing against the Cincinnati defense. That squad will overcome this 0–2 deficit if we see them frequently.

11. Green Bay Packers

Without Jordan Love, life wasn’t pretty, but it was also a lot less terrifying than I had thought. The Packers’ ability to outgain the Colts in rush yardage that day nearly 300 yards helped. Malik Willis might be OK for Green Bay if we presume he only needs to perform that well once or twice more before Love returns.

12. New York Jets
The Jets finished with a respectable 1-1, making them one of just four teams without a home game through two weeks. With youngster Braelon Allen looking every bit as entertaining as Breece Hall, Sunday’s victory in Nashville may have been the game that convinced us they have two reliable alternatives in the backfield.

13. Dallas Cowboys

Assuming that Week 1 was an exact replica of all the Cowboys’ successful victories in 2023, Week 2 would be an exact replica of all their disappointing defeats. To put it plainly, the defense was unable to halt the run or obtain any sort of stop. Though the primary issue was the defensive collapse, one may reasonably question whether the offense have any valuable weapons except CeeDee Lamb.

14. Seattle Seahawks

Even though Seattle’s resume isn’t very impressive right now, it’s still commendable to start the season 2-0 under a rookie head coach. In the early going, Geno Smith is quietly performing really well.

15. Cleveland Browns

It’s amazing how much more effective the Browns’ defense appeared once their offense managed to prevent a first-half deficit. Deshaun Watson wasn’t spectacular, but this club appeared more capable of contending for a postseason berth.

16. Pittsburgh Steelers

Here’s a statistic: According to Pro Football Focus, Justin Fields is tied for the greatest player in the NFL with Aaron Rodgers and Geno Smith after two weeks of play. He hasn’t made any plays that should have been reviewed. This basically indicates that in two complete starts, he hasn’t endangered the ball. This Pittsburgh defense is playing at a level that is good enough to win a lot of games.

17. Minnesota Vikings

Just ask Brock Purdy; don’t believe me? With San Francisco managing just 17 points on Sunday, the 49ers’ top quarterback informed Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores that his approach is “crazy.” While there is some amusement value to the Sam Darnold Reclamation Project, the Vikings defense appears to be in control early on.

18. Atlanta Falcons

Kirk Cousins appeared to be having difficulty recovering from an Achilles injury during the opening fifty-five minutes of the Falcons’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles. That winning drive in the game, though? Whoa. Atlanta should be alright if Cousins can consistently put that together with a largely strong defensive effort.

19. Arizona Cardinals

That’s right, Kyler Murray is back. Though it’s difficult to assess the Cardinals’ defense after their 41-10 victory, Kyler is undoubtedly better than the Rams’ offense. Arizona’s run game along with Murray’s playmaking made this team exciting to watch on any given Sunday.

20. Chicago Bears

It is an ancient story. Many of us overlooked asking if the offensive line could hold up well enough to make it all work because we were too focused on the talent players Caleb Williams would have to deal with. Though I must say it’s too early to panic, it’s been far more unpleasant than I had anticipated. Nevertheless, at least the defense is vile.

21. Los Angeles Rams

The Rams’ availability is more important in this ranking than their skill level. After losing Puka Nacua and the majority of their offensive line, Cooper Kupp is the most recent casualty. Until some guys return to the lineup, I simply don’t know how good these guys are. With San Francisco on board, things aren’t going to get any easier.

22. Miami Dolphins

Best wishes to Tua Tagovailoa. Football is not as essential to him as his concussion recovery. Nevertheless, the Dolphins still have a game this weekend, and any club that loses its starting quarterback is hard to cheer for.

23. Jacksonville Jaguars

You can always bank on two or three mistakes to ruin any memorable play or run of good fortune by the Jaguars. Jacksonville does not have the luxury of time to correct its mistakes as Houston appears to be a serious contender in the AFC South.

25. Las Vegas Raiders
Gardner Minshew is a wonderful guy to watch because, as he demonstrated in Baltimore on Sunday, he can occasionally pull a rabbit out of his hat. Minshew’s performance suggests that the Raiders have a strong enough group to contend. As the season progresses, how frequently can those two things line up?

26. New England Patriots

When a lousy team fails to receive the memo that it is intended to lose, it is extremely enjoyable. The Patriots have taken up the mantle in 2024, following the Arizona Cardinals in 2023. The offense has had two opportunities to win games this season, but this defense is going to make life miserable for every team it faces.

27. Indianapolis Colts

It is believed that Anthony Richardson would struggle with consistency and decision-making. The Colts defense giving up 261 running yards against a team that is starting a backup quarterback is a little more concerning.

28. Washington Commanders
It’s not like this was a spectacular performance the Commanders defeated the Giants 21–18 without scoring a touchdown. Nonetheless, I felt that Jayden Daniels was quite well for someone making his second NFL start, especially after his first game-winning drive.

29. Tennessee Titans

The Titans have many positive aspects. The defense is formidable, and on Sunday, Calvin Ridley produced his first significant plays as a Titan. If Will Levis keeps doing ridiculous things with the football, it won’t matter. It would also be fantastic if the punt team could straighten things out.

30. Denver Broncos

Perhaps you’ve already seen this statistic, but it’s worth noting: Only 11 of the 36 passes Bo Nix has attempted to complete have gone more than five yards downfield; four of his misses have been intercepted. Growing pains were inevitable, but for the novice, it has been unpleasant.

31. New York Giants

The Giants will likely defeat the Commanders if they have a healthy kicker despite all the difficulties, they have already faced this season. Notwithstanding their knowledge of Graham Gano’s injuries, New York’s brass took no action to prevent his loss. Already, after just two weeks, the Giants have experienced that kind of season.

32. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers won’t be able to make significant progress this season. This season, they have been outscored 73–13, and now that Bryce Young was selected first overall in the draft, they have benched him after just 18 starts. While it already seems like a lost season, there must be hope that Andy Dalton can show improvement right away.
