“It’s very difficult with Smith, it’s not a black and white matter. Anyone who tries to make this look black and white is not paying attention. Last year he made two superb performances against England – one in the World Test Championship final (against India) and one at Lord’s, which was the deciding Test match of the series.”
It’s not easy, he’s the greatest player of all time and they made this decision in good faith. It’s just that until now, with the exception of that Brisbane incident and the small sample size and everything else, it hasn’t looked very good to the naked eye. What they do here will be exciting.
