The organisation, which is the outreach arm of Exeter City Football Club, has partnered with Exeter Chiefs. And Exeter City Council to implement the Strive ‘25 Rugby Challenge. A countrywide initiative spearheaded by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) to expose 25,000 women and girls to the game in World Cup venue cities.
Exeter is one of only eight cities across the UK chosen to host games for the competition. Aimed at women aged 16 and above who might not have ever thought of playing rugby. The challenge adopts T1 Rugby – a non-physical, social form of the sport – to motivate involvement. Sessions are being launched throughout Exeter in public parks, fitness centres.

And this initiative gives us a meaningful route to involve more women in a friendly, reachable version of rugby. As part of the introduction, the team conducted a trial session for members of WI in the City. Exeter’s main Women’s Institute group. The summer schedule includes activities in neighbourhoods like Wonford, Beacon Heath, Exwick, and the town centre.
Partnerships with nearby rugby clubs, Exeter College, the University of Exeter. And Age UK will enable a broad spectrum of sessions.
