Similar to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Japanese swimmers will secure automatic qualification for the Olympics. And that will be possible if they clinch an individual gold medal at this year’s World Championships. Therefore, swimmers such as Daiya Seto, Tomoru Honda, and Reona Aoki could feel more relaxed with a gold medal draped around their necks. As knowing that they have already earned their place on the Japanese roster for the 2024 Games, provided they win the top prize.

During the 2019 World Championships, only Seto secured automatic qualification for Tokyo. It was done by winning the world titles in Gwangju’s 200m IM and 400m IM. Swimmers who want to replicate this achievement in Fukuoka. They will only need to participate in the 2024 Japan Championships to confirm their spot on the roster.

Securing a place on the podium, let alone a gold medal, at Fukuoka is an extremely challenging task. As all swimmers bringing their best game. The top tier of Japanese talent and the events they will participate in will be clearer after the Japan Championships in April. Meanwhile, some of the leading contenders are ready to compete for Fukuoka gold. And they want to get a chance to qualify for Paris 2024.

France Olympic: Daiya Seto and Reona Aoki  will be competing at World Aquatics Championships for Paris Olympic Spot

At 28 years of age, Seto is already one of the top 5 performers globally. And these are the 200m IM and 400m IM events this season. He clocked a time of 1:56.72 at January’s Kosuke Kitajima Cup in the former. And he recorded 4:10.14 at December’s Japan Swim in the latter. In 2022, Seto had a remarkable year as he secured his sixth consecutive short course world title in the 400m IM. And becoming the first man to achieve this feat.

In Fukuoka, Seto is expected to face tough competition from challengers. Carson Foster and Chase Kalisz of the United States and Leon Marchand of France will compete there. Additionally, his domestic rival Tomoru Honda will also try to make his mark in the 400m IM. While New Zealand’s Lewis Clareburt and Australian Brendan Smith will also be looking to challenge Seto for the gold.

Aoki is still searching for her breakthrough meet. And the home-based World Championships could allow her to claim the top spot on the podium. The 28-year-old has been posting some impressive times in the 100m breaststroke. And currently ranked second globally with a time of 1:06.11, which she achieved at the Japan Open.

Aoki finished fifth in Budapest’s 100m breaststroke event last year, clocking in at 1:06.38. However, if she manages to improve her time and bring it down to the 1:05 range. Then she could become a strong contender for the podium. She will be competing against reigning world champion Benedetta Pilato of Italy, and the resurging Lithuanian Ruta Meilutyte. And other than that the ever-present American Lilly King in the race.

Paris 2024: Ippei Watanabe appears to be getting back to his old self for Olympic 2024

The former 200m breaststroke world record holder appears to be returning to his former form. He is 25 years old and a two-time bronze medalist at the World Championships. He missed out on the 2020 Olympic Games in his speciality event, the 200m breaststroke. However, after taking some time off, he is starting to perform at a level we have come to expect from the Tsukumi native.

Currently, Watanabe is tied with his Japanese teammate Shoma Sato as the top swimmer in the world in his main event, the 200m breaststroke. Both swimmers clocked a time of 2:08.55 in January of this year. Watanabe’s personal best and former world record stands at 2:06.67, achieved in 2017. However, Australia’s Zac Stubblety-Cook set a new world record at an astonishing 2:05.95. Watanabe will need to swim faster than ever before to challenge the Australian for the gold medal in Fukuoka this summer.

Matsumoto had an impressive performance at the Japan Swim 2023, winning all three of his events and qualifying for the World Aquatics Championships in each of them. He even set a new Japan record in the 100m butterfly with a time of 47.85 seconds, making him the only swimmer to achieve this feat at the meet.

Some experts are suggesting that he should focus on his freestyle ambitions instead. The Australian swimmer, who is also a successful musician. He won a gold medal as a part of the 4x100m freestyle team in Birmingham. Also a silver for his role in the 4x100m medley event. The 100m butterfly has traditionally been a strong event for Australian swimmers, making Simpson’s eighth-place finish all the more disappointing.

Adam Peaty Aiming for Paris 2024 Olympics Glory After Setbacks

Adam Peaty has opened up about a difficult period in his life, both personally and professionally. The three-time Olympic gold medalist recently withdrew from the British Championships, citing a lack of enjoyment for the sport. Despite this setback, Peaty is determined to defend his 100m breaststroke title at the Paris 2024 Olympics. And claim his third consecutive gold medal. He has previously set world records in the event. And is considered one of the greatest swimmers of all time in his discipline.

Adam Peaty recently opened up about his struggles with mental health and personal issues that have affected his swimming career. Which he attributes to injury, motivation, and the breakdown of his relationship with his son’s mother.

However, he is confident that he can do it and has described the journey ahead as a very different one that will require finding tiny margins year after year.

The Olympic champion Anna Hopkin suspects the standard of British swimming has never been higher. The Chorley-born star swam the final leg of the 4×100 mixed medley relay as Team GB stormed to a stunning gold at Tokyo 2020.

Paris 2024: Eight medals they picked up in 2020

She is among a raft of famous faces returning to the pool at the British Swimming Championships, where she hopes to further her selection hopes for the summer’s World Aquatics Championships.

With a second Olympics firmly on the horizon too, the event in Sheffield marks a significant checkpoint on the road to Olympic Paris 2024, where Hopkin believes Team GB can better the record eight medals they picked up in 2020.

“We’re not just trying to make teams anymore, we want to win medals,” said Hopkin, who trains in Loughborough at the British Swimming Performance Centre.

“I’ve not been on teams for too long, but I’d say for Tokyo it was the best the team has ever been.

“Obviously, it was our most successful Olympic Games and we’ve just got to carry that momentum through and hopefully by next year in Olympic Paris, we’ll have an even stronger team.”

To aid their preparation for the upcoming season, Hopkin and her teammates spent much of the winter in Australia on an intense training camp, sharing the pool with some of the best from down under.

Olympic Swimming Hopkin and Team back on Home Soil: Olympic Paris 2024

Now back on home soil, Hopkin and team are ready to show off what they have learned and believes a shift in focus can help the team soar to new heights.

“We’re putting quite a lot of emphasis on relays,” she said. “I know the men have obviously had a lot of success in relays over the past few years and so it’s really nice to have the mixed relay doing so well.

“Kathleen [Dawson] and I were able to be on that in the Olympics and I think the goal is for the women’s relays to be as successful as the men’s.

“As the standards get higher, I think people want to be on those teams and they want to be on those relays because they want to be the ones winning the medals. As a whole, I think everyone’s aiming higher.”

The next step on the road to Paris 2024 lies at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, with a six-day spectacular in store from April 4-9.

Hopkin is relishing the opportunity to shine in front of a home crowd once more.

Olympic Swimming: first competition of the season

“It’s the first competition of the season where we are resting down and preparing to swim fast,” she said.

“It will give us a good indication of how things might go for the rest of the season and we are trying to make the teams for the World Championships, so we have to swim well to be able to move onto the next stage. I think it’ll be a good show.”

Alice Dearing backed for Paris 2024 Olympics push after Tokyo experience by Keri-Anne Payne

Olympic silver medallist Keri-anne Payne believes Alice Dearing’s experience at Tokyo 2020, combined with three years more training, will mean Dearing can challenge for a medal at Paris 2024. Dearing became the first black female swimmer to represent Britain at an Olympic Games last year where she finished in 19th place in the 10km event at the competition.

Alice Dearing has been told her turbulent Tokyo experience will harden her for the heat of Paris 2024 Olympic battle.

The Birmingham marathon swimming star, 25, became the first black female swimmer to represent Britain at an Olympic Games last year where she finished in 19th place in the 10km event.

Olympic Swimming: Keri-anne Payne swimmer

But Keri-anne Payne, a Beijing 2008 marathon swimming silver medallist, believes that crucial first Olympic experience combined with three years more training will mean Dearing can challenge for a medal in Paris 2024.

The 35-year-old, speaking ahead of exactly 500 days to go until the Games this week, said: “The open water team in Britain at the moment is still a young team but it’s really important for Alice to have had that previous Olympic experience.

“With it being such a weird year with Covid, I really hope her training has been more robust this year.

“Training for an Olympics by yourself, in an endless pool in your garden when you’re a long distance swimmer that is really tough.

“But now, hopefully she’s had this time to work on tactics.

“Between Beijing and London I spent four years just racing as much as I could to try and deal with the punches, literally.

“It can be tough in that environment, but you’ve got to roll with it and not let that effect you so hopefully that’s what she took from Tokyo and it helps inspire her to Paris 2024.”

Payne was catapulted into the spotlight during the Beijing 2008 Olympics after she won a silver medal in the women’s 10km event.

Olympic Swimming at Paris 2024: Hard Work and her Focus

With just four years until a home Games in London, the 35-year-old worked hard to focus on her skills and promote the sport of open water swimming.

Payne, speaking at a SportsAid Week event, added: “I got into open water just before the Beijing Olympic Games and came home with a silver medal,” she said.

“That really cemented my open water status from that point forward.

Paris 2024: Chalmers a Champion and Daiya Seto Swimmer Competing for Gold at Olympic Paris

“I spent the next four years really honing my skills ahead of a home Games, I mean to be a home athlete, I genuinely now know how Rockstar’s feel.

“Unfortunately I came forth in London which was really tough but in hindsight, now we’re ten years away, I still get people coming up to me and saying that because they watched that swim, I inspired them to take up open water swimming.

“To realise where the sport has come from and where it is now, that legacy is probably one of my proudest moments to date.”

Olympic Paris: Add another accomplishment for the group, as one of the ‘Stingrays’ will signify his club, his state, and his country on a global period. The light goes off, the sound goes off, and that means it’s gone time. An ideal start to a swim encounter, but things don’t always go to strategy for Syler Pizzolato. The things that he has to deal with are wholly different from what any other swimmer has to deal with. There’s been a couple encounters where it’s honestly not the officials’ fault, but there’s been a couple meets where he gets left on the blocks said BAC head swim coach, Sean Marshall.

Pizzolato is a modest swimmer for BAC and is a sophomore at Billings Elder. He was born with severe earshot loss in both of his ears and wears earplugs to defend his ears while in the pool which as you can imagine, reasons some tests. Sometimes what’s funny is occasionally the noise is too loud or it’s too quiet for the starting noise and I don’t hear it sometimes and I just got to rely on the light,” Pizzolato said.

The light being a strobe light Marshall and Pizzolato sometimes place under the blocks to safeguard a successful start. That’s one example of the way Pizzolato has quickly modified and become an elite young swimmer. Pizzolato lately made the USA Swimming Futures Cut, which puts him in a tier with the top one out of a hundred swimmers in the state in his age collection.

Olympic Swimming Will the Issues with Qualifying Standards for Paris 2024

every year, when the United States announcements event lineups for the World Championships, there are notable gaps in the 50-meter stroke proceedings. That’s because of the way that USA Swimming selects its rosters for most major international meets often using 100-meter races to pick the swimmers who make the roster and spreading their lineups to 50-meter events rather than using 50-meter stroke events.

One of the first swimming perspectives I ever wrote (shoutout to The Swimmers Circle) discussed the American struggle and brashness vis-a-vis stroke 50s. Things have changed a bit since then the fastest obtainable swimmer from finals in each of the non-Olympic stroke 50s makes the team this year and in most recent years but if that swimmer fails their spot, they are not substituted. The 2nd spot must be full by someone already on the roster in another event.

Because the 50 strokes are so often unnoticed at US meets, swimmers often choose not to swim them even if there is a financial incentive to do so see Regan Smith in the 50 back at the Pro Swim Series in Westmont last week. While this hurt the US at the 2022 Short Progression World Championships with empty lanes Kate Douglass couldn’t swim the 100 IM where she would’ve been a gold medal candidate the US did fill up their hit 50 slots at the 2022 FINA World Aquatics Championships.

Paris Seine River gets Olympic reboot for Swimming Competition at Summer 2024 Games

The cleanup of the Seine River is both expensive and intricate, but it is vital in revitalizing the river in time for its prominent role in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Moreover, it will enable the Seine to live up to its reputation as the world’s most romantic river and once again be a safe and enjoyable destination for visitors.

With global temperatures on the rise, the rejuvenated river’s ability to provide a refreshing place to cool off during heat waves is critical for ensuring the livability of France’s capital. The restoration of the Seine may also encourage other cities to invest in similar efforts to reclaim their waterways.

According to Dan Angelescu, a scientist who monitors the Seine’s water quality for City Hall through regular sampling, the efforts to clean up the river will have a ripple effect worldwide, as many other cities are closely following the developments in Paris. Angelescu sees this as the beginning of a movement that will inspire other cities to prioritize the restoration of their waterways. The pressure of the Olympic deadline has given a boost to a cleanup effort that has been underway for decades.

So it needs to be prepared. Administrators have been going after homes upstream of Paris. And houseboats on the Seine that were discharging their sewage and wastewater openly into the river. An Olympic law accepted in 2018 gave moored ships two years to catch up to the Paris sewage system. Sewage treatment shrubberies on the Seine and its branch, the Marne, are also being upgraded.
