Although Brex isn’t as effective against single opponents as North, I still adore his ability to maintain the flow of movement. He also does amazing work in defense and as a jackal for a large center.
A player to keep an eye on:
In a way that has many of us believing he’s been the finest fly-half in this Guinness Six Nations, Paolo Garbisi is developing into the number 10 jersey. He has made significant progress in his escape plan, and Wales will have a difficult day at work if he enters the game and gains control of territory.
Ireland vs Scotland
Scotland will be desperate to escape its current predicament and improve upon their dismal performance against Italy last weekend. Usually, you would say Ireland in this situation. Expect both sides to get off to scorching starts. Though, as Ireland wasn’t awful at all against England and they will be motivated to win back-to-back titles.
Ireland will have to prove their accuracy, which they are the best at, against a team that loves chaos, Scotland. Though the Scots love to disrupt and their back-row is just suited for pressure and stealing. They will run their pods with four out of the carrier and alternatives on either side. For this reason, the gainline area will be key once again. Especially because I think Ireland has a huge advantage in the set-piece.
Even though I admire the Scots’ ability to finish in the red zone and would love for them to do England a favor. I don’t think they’ll have enough possession to overcome the odds in this game. Thus I predict an Irish victory of 32–20.
Head-to-Head:
At 10, there will be a master vs trainee match with Finn Russell taking on Jack Crowley. The match will revolve around control. Crowley sees it as a genuine opportunity to test himself against the industry’s top players, and like Garbisi. He is developing into a 10-shirt player with genuine talent and ambition.
The player to observe:
When Andy Christie, an England flanker, chose to play for Scotland because of grandfather’s qualifying. I admit that I groaned a little inside. He has excellent speed, is highly disruptive, and is a true dynamo. If he plays, he might be a key difference-maker for the Scots and could significantly affect the outcome of the match.
France vs England
You always look forward to Le Crunch, and this year’s experience is even more difficult to predict. The outstanding offensive coach Laurent Labit, who is now the director of rugby at Stade Francais. However, this is somewhat mitigated by the fact that France can turn things around in one day less, which could be important for their big players.
I predict England will win 23–17 in a contest where controlling the scoreboard at every opportunity will be crucial. My intuition tells me that this will be more of an arm wrestle than the other games. However, England is playing with a lot of confidence.
Head-to-head:
When the two top players in the Northern Hemisphere go toe-to-toe at that position, it must be at eight because of their radically different styles. Amazing leg propulsion into the tackle and great jackal presence make Alldritt a carrying machine.
It is evident to Leinster that he consistently dominates the gain line. Ben Earl will be the tournament’s form player and faster, more dynamic player, therefore how they do in their head-to-head match will determine how the final score is framed.
The player to observe:
