Since joining the Jaguars in 2021, Lawrence claims this is the team’s most talented roster. The group selected wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. in the NFL draft and Gabe Davis in free agency.

Among the players with the most improvement on the team is Washington. Jones and Elijah Cooks are in contention for the final position, and Jones is chosen due to his special team’s prowess.

Tight Ends (3):

Offensive Line (10):

The health of Cleveland and Scherff, the guards, is still a concern as Morse assumes the centre position. Especially in short yardage, the Jaguars’ inability to run the ball effectively last season was primarily due to that inner weakness. That did have some bearing on injuries, but as of right now, all five starters are healthy.

Linebackers (6):

Ventrell Miller, Foyesade Oluokun, Caleb Johnson, Chad Muma, Yasir Abdullah Devin Lloyd

Oluokun will continue to call the defence from the weakside linebacker even if Lloyd shifts into the middle. As a strongside linebacker, Muma appears to fit in better with the defence under new coach Ryan Nielsen. Miller will be useful in the rotation but mostly on special teams if he can maintain his health. Abdullah, a rookie who saw limited action in the previous season, may see time as a pass rusher.

Defensive LineBack (9):

Arik Armstead, Roy Robertson-Harris, Josh Hines-Allen, Maason Smith, Travon Walker, Tyler Lacy, DaVon Hamilton, Trevis Gipson, Jordan Jefferson

With Hamilton’s (back) return to health, this is maybe the deepest position group. Walker, Hines-Allen, and Armstead who spent most of the camp on PUP give the Jaguars a strong set of pass rushers, but it’s unclear where the rest of the line will produce. The most outstanding defensive rookie thus far is Smith.

Cornerback (5):

Tyson Campbell, De’Antre Prince, Jarrian Jones, Christian Braswell, Ronald Darby

Just before camp, Campbell inked a four-year, $76.5 million contract extension. He was a standout player in 2022 but had a disappointing 2023 due to a hamstring injury. With Nielsen’s defence requiring a lot of man coverage, Campbell and Darby will have a lot of pressure to perform well, especially since Braswell has been one of the defence’s strongest players.

Safties (5):

Andre Cisco, Terrell Edmunds, Darnell Savage, Antonio Johnson

In addition to playing safety depending on the situation and rotation, Savage is the main nickel back. Johnson will also play safety. The Jaguars want to see Cisco improve before giving him a contract extension. The final year of his professional deal is currently upon him.

Tashaun Gipson Sr. has been placed on the reserve/suspended list by the Jaguars, and he will miss the initial six matches of the season due to a knee injury. The team will also apply the new inactive roster rule concerning Andrew Wingard.

Specialist (3):

Logan Cooke, Ross Matiscik, Cam Little

Early in the camp, Little defeated Riley Patterson for the job. Cooke is the only punter with more punts within the 10-yard line (70) since entering the league in 2018, and Matiscik is coming off a Pro Bowl season.
